You sure got my attention! :-) Since I am a MAYFIELD descendant, and still
looking for pieces to my MAYFIELD puzzle, your Nancy Elizabeth looks very
interesting! Do you know where in Tennessee your Nancy E. MAYFIELD was born?
In 1870 in Izard County, I find two GASTONS, listed:
in Northfork Twp:
GASTON, Thomas J. 19 fmr MO
Mary 22 kh MO
and in Conway Twp:
GASTON, Noel? 26 fmr AR
Eyeda 20 AR
Allis 6/12 AR
I wonder whether either may have been related to your Thomas? My MAYFIELD
family moved to Izard County around 1851 or so, from Washington County, TN.
They were last on the census for Washington County in 1850.
On the 1890 Izard County Personal Property Tax Assessment List, by Mary C.
Miller, I find these GASTONS:
GASTON, H.Page 80Violet Hill Twp.
JamesPage 80Violet Hill Twp.
W.Page 80Violet Hill Twp.
The 1890 Census was destroyed accidently by fire.
