Our taxes aren't high compared to some..and we live in the county so
don't have to pay city taxes too..We bought this 1000 sq. ft house 22
years ago as a stopgap measure....We wanted to get way out in the
country...It's brick..on a short street 'in the country.'..Well, we're
still here, and have decided this house is plenty big enough for two...We
put in a heat pump, new doors, new roof, etc, etc. as needed and have it
like we want now..I no longer want to live out in the middle of the
woods....even wait till daylight to go get the paper in case I should
fall or something...Getting more careful as I get older...I like having
someone close enough to call for help..and we have the back yard grown up
enough that it's private.....We paid cash for it, so can afford to add
stuff as needed...... We can have all the garden we want out back and
flowers and bushes have been planted everywhere....It's handy to
everything....Guess we'll move out feet first !
A friend almost lost her house a year or so ago and I got in the habit of
looking at the foreclosure notices for her..Well, they used to be in the
paper once a week, now there are LOTS of them every day. I heard the
housing market was the worst since the Depression and I sure believe it !
I thank God for my blessings....
