Hi, everybody:

I just had to tell somebody about what I saw today, and this list seemed
like a good place to do it. Silver Dollar City is having their
International Festival this week, and I went out to see an Irish dance
troupe called Moonshine. However, I got a lot more than I expected. They
combined the Irish music and dance with a group of cloggers and a bluegrass
band, to show how the traditions had translated in America, and it was
terrific!! Especially when the two bands combined for several numbers. Two
fiddle players--one a pretty redhead in a long satin dress and the other a
wrinkled old guy in blue jeans and cowboy hats--were egging each other on,
as fiddle players seem to do (they really seem to take that story about
dueling with the devil to heart), and the harpist was tappin' her toe like
crazy to "I'll Fly Away." And let me tell ya', a bodhran is really the
finishing touch for "Cotton Eye Joe."

It was a blast. I wish I could dance like that, but it makes my ankles hurt
just watching it.

Ingrid
