I was really taken with the Library of Congress Webinar that gave a tour of
the LOC's online content. I liked the interactivity, the white board, the
e-mails that participants sent in. The presenter had an assistant who posted
the URLs to Websites that were mentioned. I don't recall seeing the
presenter; I only remember hearing her voice.
I didn't save the transcript of the event, feeling that it would be too
text-intense to be searchable. I didn't retain much of what I heard. I have
a vague notion of how to search more effectively at the site. I think I
needed a take-away outline as a reminder. I couldn't take notes because the
pace was quick, and I was following the directions of navigating to
different portions of the Website.
For some reason, I think the lecture would have had a more lasting impact if
I had seen the presenter. Perhaps it's the visage that stimulates my memory.
In regard to Second Life, I have a vague notion of what an avatar is. I
suspect an avatar is not as visually complex as a human.
