Apparently you haven't learned all you need to about who owns these
TGN is NOT (and never was) owned by the LDS Church. Footnote is also not
owned by the LDS Church.
TGN is owned by Spectrum Equity:
Follow the crawl on the web page to see all the companies they own.
Footnote.com is also privately owned, and while BOTH of these companies are
headquartered in Utah, they are not owned by the LDS Church. Employees,
owners, and stockholders may well include people of the Mormon faith but that
doesn't mean the companies are owned by the Church any more than a company that
might employ me would be owned by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America
just because I am a member of a Lutheran Church.

I have certainly learned a lot from this list. One thing I have learned
is that LDS-owned companies like familysearch, ancestry, and footnote
are untouchable, and you can only discuss issues that the LDS approves
of. When religion owns the company it is an obvious conflict of interest.
