I agree with LaRae and others who say that we should welcome all who have
shown they can do the work required to standards no matter how they came to
understand or practice these standards. Those whose work has been examined
by ICAPGen (holding the AG credential), BCG (holding the CG credential), and
universities should be proud of themselves for the road they traveled. No
one should be made to feel inferior for bettering themselves or our
genealogy field.
I do not like talking about any divide since, as it has already been pointed
out, it is not by category but individually that we need to judge the
worthiness of a person's work. I would prefer to address the individual
needs of people who share our interests and explore what APG can do to
address those needs.
