Sandy
A certified copy can be obtained at the Massachusetts Vital Records Office on Mount Vernon St in Dorchester MA. Massachusetts is an open records state.
The Massachusetts Military Archives in Worcester MA may have his registration card if he enlisted here as well as his unit and details of his service. The Massachusetts State Library Special Collections Dept. has a collection of WWI photos of Massachusetts veterans that ran in the Boston Globe, I believe. There are thousands of group and individual shots.
I hope this helps
