Craig, I think Birkett probably is some relation. All the other Carder
families from Culpepper County probably related in some way. I've been
researching them for years & work with others descended most of the other
Carders& from what I've learned is most of the Carders came from Culpepper
at one time. I try to check out all of them but have not been able to prove
where mine fit in. I have an idea which ones they are most likely closer
related to, but have not (nor have any one else I know of researching
Carders) been able to connect mine to any of the other Carders. A number of
the Carders who came to Ohio lived in the same counties as mine or a
neighboring county. Abbott Carder of Warren County, Ohio came to Ohio about
the same time as mine & his family migrated through Ohio in the same places
as mine so I feel they must have been related. I just haven't been able to
ever find anything proving who mine are related to. Do you mean John's
siblings & cousins or his father's? I have 5 of John M.'s siblings but 3 of
them, I've never found anywhere except on the 1850 census. The 2 I've found
a lot on died (Susan M. Carder Steen) before 1855 & (Adaline Carder Steen)
before 1870. Debbie Carder
