Many states where I've researched or lived, the state Board of Education
office has the records and some have published yearly directories of those
licensed to teach in that specific state. I purchased 17 years of Alaska
Education Directories at a surplus book sale. One of the libraries was
getting rid of duplicate sets of items like this. Mine start in 1980.

I don't think Alaska is much different than Lower 48 states but they do
publish a LOT of directories similar to this. For instance, Directory of
Licensed Engineers, Directory of Public Accountants, etc.

Perhaps the Board of Ed. records are what Barbara said were in the Library
of Virginia.

We have a state law that every publication funded by the state has to be
placed in specific libraries.
