I need some suggestions from the trained eyes here.

I have looked at a name on a census image until my eyes have become
double-crossed and I cannot figure it out. It is indexed in the 1900 census
of Kentucky at Anestry.com as:

First name "Frona J"
Last name: "Pence"
(The citation is: Year: 1900; Census Place: Mount Vernon, Rockcastle,
Kentucky; Roll: T623 550; Page: 12B; Enumeration District: 64.)

The name appears on line 58 of the resullting image.

The image at Genealogy.com is easier to read if you want to look at that.

The HOH of this family can't be found (at leasst not yet!) in the index at
Genealogy.com, but you can get there this way . . .

Genalogy.com > 1900 census > Kentucky > Rockcastle Coounty > Mount Vernon >
page 63a > line 58.

The URL is (you may have to cut and paste):

This family is so badly indexed at Ancestry.com that it was difficult to
figure out which Pence family it actually was. The name of the head of
household is Squire Pence (the first name is sometimes spelled Squier). His
wife was Nancy Guffin, whom he married 9 Mar 1874 in Pulaski County,
Kentucky.

Ancestry.com has him indexed as "Guies" ánd the ages of the children in the
image bear little resemblance to the ages given in the index - some are off
by 5 years, even though both month/year of birth and age are given and are
relatively legible. Most of the names of the children are recognizable,
except for "Frona," her father and her older brother Addison (spelled
"Adicion" on the image but indexed as "Adren" at Ancestry.com).

To get to the point: I am trying to figure out what the actual name of the
child indexed as "Frona J" might be.

The month and year of birth on the image is Jul 1885 and, for what it's
worth, in the marriage records of Parke County, Indiana (as extracted by the
WPA and given on a Heritage Quest CD) there was an "S. J. Pence" who applied
for a marriage license (date not given) and she gave her birth date and
place as 3 Jul 1883 in Kentucky. She listed her father as Squire Pence and
her mother as Nancy Guffin. Apparently "S. J." is the same child as "Frona
J" and she was fudging her age in order to be able to marry without the
consent of her parents.

I haven't seen the original of the Indiana record but, knowing that the
letters S and L are often confused, I am thinking that the Parke County
record should be "L. J." and the first letter for "Frona" in the census
record is actually an L. (I don't think "S. J." is Sarah Jane, for the
oldest child in this family (per the 1880 census) was Sarah E. Pence.)

So ... I would appreciate any guesses as to what name is entered on the 1900
census record, above cited page (and what it might be a nickname for].
