Subject: Re: [APG] Orphanage Records Publications Question
Date: Fri, 11 Aug 2000 15:57:33 EDT
Personal opinion: If I were one of the orphans who had been in that
orphanage, and I had not made it generally known that I was an orphan from
that orphanage, I would not appreciate someone else making it known in a
book. I know all the arguments about public records, etc., but none-the-less,
I personally would rather veer on the side of discretion when it comes to
living persons.
The only alternative I personally would entertain would be to contact each
and every one of the living orphans involved and getting their permission to
be included in the list. Perhaps none of them would object - or perhaps they
would all object - LOUDLY.
As I say, that's a personal opinion and is binding only on me. Others will
have their own take on the subject, and different opinions are what makes
horse races exciting!

My project was to publish the history of this orphanage along with all the
names
of known "inmates" of this orphanage.
Would you be of the opinion that this would be invasion of privacy or should
I go
ahead with the publication? >>
