I charge for mileage only when I am making a trip specifically at the request
of the client. I am currently doing research only in the DC/Annapolis area
and do not charge for travel in these areas. If someone wanted me to drive
to Phiadelphia or western Maryland then I would charge at federal rate of 31
cents a miles - making sure the client understood what the total travel costs
would be. Most of the time they then decide to contact a local researcher
but on one occasion the client wanted me to do it and so I complied.
