Can someone do a lookup in The Colorful Ames, By Jim Ames?

I'm looking for a Charles Ames born about 1811-1812 in MA who might have migrated to west or central Texas by 1841. It is possible that he lived in Missouri or Indiana before shortly before and after his time in New Mexico (1836-1837).

This man later settled in eastern Texas where he raised a family and died. I'm seriously looking for his whereabouts during the timeframe 1838-1841......
