Subject: [AMER-REV] Maine Militia to R.I. Continental

I had two ancestors that were in militia units in Maine and somehow ended up
in the Continental Army at Rhode Island.

One of the individuals was a private and the other a lieutenant.

I'm curious as to whether they were volunteers or were drafted. Also, would
the officer have commissioning papers for the Continental Army? He was a
training officer in the local militia.

The enlisted ancestor is a pensioner and I'm trying to find information on
the lieutenant, without much success.

thanks, Charles
