I am finding origins of more than one of my ancestors in Alsace as "the
Tyrol." Some others came from Saarland and Prussia. Then they all
intermarried with the French.

Were immigrants from the Tyrol a significant part of the Alsace population?
The families came in the late or mid-sixteen hundreds. Mine from this area
are: Veit (later Feit or Feith), Brucker, and Michel, and I am looking at
Horig--only because I see that "ig" ending on surnames from my Austrian
ancestors.

Thanks.

Dianne
