If you ask anyone in DeKalb County, Alabama about Town Creek they will
direct you to Sand Mountain...and maybe even to the McCracken Wash Hole on
Town Creek in the Lydia / Guest / Pleasant Hill communities...named after
your maternal grandfather's family. Everyone here knew Oliver McCracken.

There is, however, an incorporated city of Town Creek, AL in the northwest
quadrant of the state...not nearly as significant, of course.
