Sorry about the mix up everyone.  Probably due to my error (but don't tell
any one OK?).  To join the ICM list you need to send an e-mail to

Then write "subscribe icm-list" in the body, and in the subject line.  But if
you have any questions you can write direct to Bill Spurlock at

International Cemetery Month May 2002

I would like to introduce you to a new List. It is dedicated to recording
forgotten cemeteries online.  We are trying to make the month of May 2002 the
International Cemetery Month.  To many old cemeteries are being destroyed
before the information can be recorded.  Our goal is to collect that
information, compare it to the map of the cemetery if at all possible, and
transcribe it online for others to find.  Most of the collecting will be
during the month of May, with the exception of Alaska which is still covered
in snow at that time of year (no, really.  Ask Charlotte after you join the
group).  A lot of Counties also have cemeteries transcribed but are putting
them into books that you have to pay for or not transcribing them at all.  If
the information is taken from the book and put onto the Web you are guilty of
copy write infringement and can be taken to court.

This is a huge project and we need a lot of help.  Tied down with kids?  Take
them along.  To many cemeteries are being destroyed by teenagers that have no
respect for what a cemetery stands for.  If you are unable to get out and
about that's OK, we can use your help.

If you would like to subscribe you will need to write to Bill Spurlock at his
address or follow the instructions above.  Bill will gladly put you onto the
List.  He is the owner of the Web site "Saving Graves" and is renowned for
his knowledge on cemetery preservation.  I hope to "read" from you soon.

Sincerely,
Renee Waring
