I have no idea if he is related to John Adams. This Adams branch came from I believe Boddle, England. However, my grandfather (god rest his soul) would have sold something for drink. He reformed later in life but earlier did like his drink. When I was a child one of his favorite places to bring me was downtown Manhattan (they lived in Brooklyn) after a nice lunch in Chinatown he would go by the Bowery and give a dollar or so to those less fortunate. He would tell me that some were teachers and other professionals who were down on their luck. He had a definite drinking problem when younger and my grandmother told me many stories of bathtub gin, speakeasies, and what they called near beer. He spent a lot of time in Manhattan and would definitely sell books for drink. The family has been difficult to research as they were extremely secretive and left close to no documentation. The only thing I know is that Walter (my grandfather's name) was not a family name. My great!
grandfather Robert Adams (no middle name he was a Protestant named my grandfather Walter after his boss. Seems he either had no family left ( I question that) or was estranged. He was a blacksmith by trade. I'll let you know if I find anything concerte.
