I have just spent time in Va on George Adams bn 1794 Va. He moved to NC and
married Fanny Chambers. This is on the igi as 1814 in Caswell Co, NC. I
spent some time in Pittsyvania and Halifax COs, Va. where some have believed
that George was the son of Richard Adams married to Hannah Boyd. (3 Adams
sons marry 2 Boyd girls) I can find no birth record, or marriage or will
that shows that this is true for my Geo. Richard does have a Geo but he is
born earlier or my George was unsure of his birth date by 14 years . I know
that none of my georges children is named for the supposed parents Hannah and
Richard or the uncle Sylvestor who brought him to TN, yet there are 8
children and they are named for the Chambers grandparent..One of the old
genealogies says that George of Dickson Co, Tn came to Dickson with his uncle
moved to Robertson and then went further west. That has probably caused
confusion as well. i did find that the records of South Va show 4 Georges at
least , of Richard, Wm, John, and one other. Georges children are my William
G. (probably not George), Geo jr, Henry and John and the girls are Emily
Albinia who marries Wylie Heflin, Rebecca, Nancy, Mary and perhaps one
unknown. This family moves from Va., NC and then Tn in 1819 for sure. Any
ideas? thanks Meredith I will be at the Va archives in late Sept. M
