Date: Mon, 7 Feb 2011 04:39:21 -0500 (EST)

Am looking for information on my BARCLAY/SELLAR ancestors who lived at
the following areas:Old Meldrum, New Deer, New Pitsligo,
Strichen, Fraserburgh and New Byth, Craigston, Turriff areas.

My ggg-grandfather was John Barclay b. 6/3/1771 at Old Meldrum, son of
Andrew Barclay. John died during the 1840’s at the ‘DenOFathie’,
a pass between Aberdour and King Edward parishes in a snow storm while
on his way back from MacDuff to his family home at High Street,
New Pitsligo. John had the following brothers all born at Old Meldrum:

Thomas b.24/2/1765, James b.26/2/1766 and Andrew b.28/6/1767 who
married Agnes Craig.

Andrew/Agnes had atleast 2 children, Susan b.1806 and Andrew b. 1807
both at Old Meldrum. Andrew his son married Mary Quirie who was
married previously to a James Murdoch.
There is also an Andrew Barclay who married Isabel Ogston who could be
related, they lived at Old Deer.

My ggg-grandfather John married Lydia Sellar from Artamford, New Deer
in 1811 and had the following children: John Barclay, a soldier who died
of fever in the West Indies, William Barclay, farmer at Cook, Byth,
James Barclay b.1820 , crofter, Craigston, Turriff married Charlotte
Rainy (born
at Marnoch, Banffshire) Andrew Barclay, mason, New Pitsligo, died
March 18, 1847 aged 29. (Ann Finnie, wife of Andrew, died 1906, aged 83
years)
