Just one little addition to the responses to this query and its
follow-up about stirks and queys.
As others have said quey and heifer are words for young cows,usually
prior to having had a calf and a stot is a young bull, as is a stirk.
But, if my memory serves me right these last two differ in that a stot
has been castrated.
