Yes, and it is rumoured that there were riots in Aberdeen when the third
English university was founded in 1832. Why should England have had more
universities than Aberdeen?

Before 1860, when the two original foundations* were merged, there was
no "Aberdeen University". For these earlier times you have to look at
the separate records for King's and Marischal.
