Gavin & Colin

I have a list of all the forenames transcribed by FreeCEN for
the 1841 Census for the whole of Aberdeenshire, courtesy of
Michelle Jeffrey.

There were 155K person records [male & female], and
2165 different names [c.55% female]. These included:
5 Bruce
1 Bryce
4 Fergus
8 Ferguson

Which seems to bear out your contention about rarity and the
[statistically insignificant] preponderance of Ferguson.

Best wishes

Ray
