Hi,
You cannot rely on information on death certificate as information only as
good as what informant says.
I recently thought I found a death entry on Scotsland People but the parents
did not match what I thought they should be. I retrieved the marriage entry
to check the couples' parents' names & found that the daughter, who had been
the informant, had listed the names of her father's parents on her mother's
death certificate.
I contacted the Scottish Registry to have them compare both entries & they
have now corrected the information on the mother's death entry.

on my GGGG grandfather John McBain's death certificate in 1863, his son
Allan lists John's father as NOT an Angus McBain but a John McBain, and also
a Chelsea Pensioner at that!
