Do your research on the internet.

You will find everything you need here
www.visitscotland.com

And you can do all your booking online.

Buy a plane ticket and drive a rental car. Base yourself in Aberdeen if thats where your folks are from. It isn't far to Banff ( 90 min drive) . A day trip.. Plenty of hotels to pick from or Bed and Breakfast is a cheaper option. The Lodges are also good value for money ie Premier Lodge, Travel Inn, Travel Lodge. etc.Plenty to do and see in Aberdeen too including Royal Deeside ( Rivers, Moors, Forests, Walks, Mountains, Castles, Beaches ). No I am not getting commission for this!

If you come you must visit the West Coast ( 4 hour drive from Aberdeen). Most glorious scenery.
And if you do venture North or West go before the Summer sets in ie August to avoid the dreaded midgie -a small biting fly). May, June , ( July ? can be a bit rainy) are best and the days are long so you can sight-see till about 10 pm in daylight !
Edinburgh ( 2 hour drive) and Inverness ( 3 hour drive) are also not to be missed.
Come with a mix of clothes including waterproofs and walking shoes. It can be sunny one minute and raining the next.We do speak a kind of English even if we drive on the "wrong" side of the road.Oh and don't call us Scotch, we are Scots. Scotch is whisky.

Enjoy!

Melody Hughes <> wrote: Hi. I just have a few questions about touring Scotland. I live in
Mississippi, USA and I have never traveled anywhere outside of the country,
but I feel that I must visit Scotland in my life time. I am only 30 now so
I have lots of time, but I would like to take my Mom because it is her
family that is from Aberdeen and Banff. She is 57 so I want to go in the
next 10 years. I was just wondering if anyone could recommend a travel
agency or tour agency so that I could start researching costs, etc. Just
this week I dreamed of touring the Kirk of St. Nicholas where my
Great-Great-Great Grandfather, Sydney William Caldwell Smith, was christened
in 1809 so I really feel that I must see it.

Thanks for any information.
