Thanks, Susan. William Airth's parents were William Airth, chr. 1791 and Mary Singer, chr. 1792. They lived in the Parish of Rayne and their children's christenings were recorded in the OPR's. However, Mary's family were from Fyvie and they were all Church of England (Episcopalian). Some Episcopalian records are available, but generally through the church headquarters or through the A&NESFHS. Is it possible that your Grant's and Simpson's were also Episcopalian? -Jeff

Almost sounds like William Airth's mother was possible a sister to
either John Grant or Elspet Simson(Simpson). Do not remember seeing
Airth but since not really looking could have been there. Will keep my
eye open for that name.

My gg grandfather William Airth was christened in Little Wartle (Little Warthill), Parish of Rayne in 1815 as well as all 7 of his younger siblings. My info is that this was a very small place, like a few farms really. Ever come across the name of Airth in your search?(I know they are all on the IGI). William had a brother named Leslie and a sister named Elspeth and he with a few of his siblings (possibly his parents) migrated to Ontario in 1835. They also lived in the Huron District/County first at North Easthope, (now Perth County). Many similarities between yours and mine. Just checking. Regards, -Jeff Airth (in California)
