Thanks to all who responded to my query. I found the www.regiment.org
very informative and it led me to another great site for anyone
searching for ancestors in the British Army going back to the 18th

This led me to the records office at Kew and from looking at their
catalogue I now plan to visit Kew in the near future. An advantage of
living near London. The Kew catalogue site is
