Hello Alex;
I did a quick look in the index of Volume 3 of the History of the Family of
Leslie, and could not see any specific reference to Nethermuir or New Deer.
However, I still contend that most of the land around the Balquhain castle,
for probably a 15 to 20 mile radius probably belonged to the Leslies of
Balquhain at some time. The history volumes quoted above include details of
many real estate transactions where the Baron of the time gifted land to his
sons. The early ones are in Latin to about the 1400's then they appear in a
form of English where you spelled words as you saw them. The author of these
three volumes was the 26th Baron of Balquhain, and the last, and had access
to these documents from the castle's Chart Room. These documents are in
boxes in the bowels of the library at the University of Aberdeen.
It is easier to search for information on people in these volumes, since
Colonel Leslie details all of the Leslie families from Balquhain and many of
the children they had, since the building of the castle in the early 1300's.
Regards
William Leslie

Wm. Leslie
I,am wondering if the Leslie,s from Balquhain have a
connection with the Leslie,s from the Nethermuir estate near New Deer .

Thank you

Alex Jamieson
