General Dispensary, Guestrow
1871-1895

General Dispensary, Vaccine and Lying-in Institution gave free medical
advice and treatment to all that required it, as well as for patients at
home who were too ill to attend. Founded in 1823, the National Health
Service made it redundant in 1948

"The Guestrow was one of the earliest streets in Aberdeen (1439). There was
a 'dispensary lying-in vaccine institutions; near by in Barnett's Close for
those patients whose houses were too wretched for them to receive proper
attention".
