I'm not surprised. This does not sound at all like an Aberdeenshire
placename. What are the "old family records"? If these are original
19th century documents, then I wonder if you are being misled by the
handwriting. Have you any facility to scan the original and post it
somewhere on the web? We could then take a look and perhaps come up
with a more plausible reading.
