This family is full of odd twists and turns. I know there were a lot of
Susan Dunn and William Penny folk living all at the
same time. I think that is part of the confusion. How do you know you
are looking at the right group?

This is what I know about my family.

William Penny was the son of John Penny and Susan Dunn who apparently never
married and were teenagers at the time of the birth.

John married Mary Trail 3 years after William was born.

There are multiple William Penny listings in Aberdeenshire around this time
period. Mine married Margaret Cheyne Robertson
in Old Deer on Nov 24, 1861. They had a son named William who lived in
Lonmay with his wife named Mary Jane Thom.

So I am not sure who the William Penny is who marries Susan Dunn and if we
are even talking about the same people.

When I search on Susan Dunn I get over 500 responses! So I know it is a
common name. I also heard a while back from
a Penny researcher that there were something like 500 Penny families
scattered around Aberdeenshire at one time. Makes
for easy research if you don't try and figure out how they are all related!

I am more intrigued now than ever! Thanks for taking the time to look all
of this up for me. I really appreciate it!
