Thanks Dennis

I read the "Voyage of the Jane Boyd" last night. I found that so
informative for ship travel in 1855. That is about the time that my
ggrandfather came from Sotland. Imagine traveling under those conditions
with a young family! What a treasure you have to remember your
gggrandfather! I will check the link that you suggest.

Thanks Jean In Sudbury, Ontario, Canada

Jean

Some time ago at "The Ships List' in a subsection called "The Fleets" I was
able to find detail on "The Aberdeen and Aberdeen & Commonwealth Lines" for
my ancestor's vessel, the "Jane Boyd". In addition, at the following link
http://www.aagm.co.uk/listhood.html you will find a detailed list and
description of ships from the "Walter Hood Shipyard 1839-1881. This included
my "Jane Boyd" as well as the "St. Lawrence".

You can read more about the "Voyage of the Jane Boyd" at "The Ships List".
It is in a diary that was handwritten by my gggrandfather during his voyage
to the new world in 1855.

Detail such as passenger lists from that era are few and far between to my
knowledge. I have been unable to find one for the "Jane Boyd" or my other
side that emmigrated from Yorkshire, England (Liverpool?) on an unknown
vessel probably in 1842 to Upper Canada.

Sincerely
Dennis in Muskoka, Ontario, Canada
