Subject: Monro- Shanks Families.

I am searching for information on the Monro and Shanks famiies in Aberdeen..

Donald Monro married Isabel McKenzie 23Oct 1817 in Old Machar, Aberdeen.
Donald was listed as a "servant" on his son's marriage certificate.
He had at least one son, William.
Is Old Machar a Parish? a town? I can't find it on a map.

William Shanks married Jane Rose 24 Aug 1832 in Aberdeen, Saint Nicholas,
Aberdeen.
William was listed as a deceased flaxdresser in 1865 when his daughter, Mary
married William Monro.

Again, the name Saint Nicholas... Is it a Parish? A town? I can't find this
location on a map, either...

If anyone can help me with any information on either family, I would be very
appreciative.
