Hi there Leslie,
>I'm looking for information on the decendants of James Hay born Auchindoir
Rhynie 13 Nov. 1862. Parents were Isabella Lobban and James Hay. He
married a Nan McDonald from Glenbuchat Strathdon and later moved to Elgin,
Moray. I can find no information on her, or even a marriage date. Also
interested in any family from this marriage.
I checked the 1881 census for the name Nancy McDonald/MacDonald
for 5 years either side of 1862 and only came up with 3, none of
whom came from Aberdeenshire and were living in the Highlands in
1881. Found 3 entries, one born Argyl, one Angus and one
Inverness. Maybe this is why you couldn't find a marriage, maybe
he met here elsewhere. There was a James McDonald from Strathdon
but no Nancy's. Mind you, maybe Nancy was her nick-name and not
her actual name.
Sorry I couldn't help any further.
Thanks.
