John, Annette, Isabelle, and all,
I haven't come across any Westcotts in my research, but I'll check a few
sources.
I'm sure there is some good reason for your relatives having Mortimer for
two of their
middle names.

As to where William Mortimer, father of George (born 3 Oct 1782 at Chapel
of
Garioch), he was mentioned to be of "Logie", probably Logie Durno, as a
witness
to the baptisms of some of his grandchildren. On the christening records
of
William's sons, George, William, and John, there was a witness, "William
Mortimer
of Knockolocky". This I suspect was the father of William Mortimer who
married
Jean Reid. I don't know where Knockolocky is or was. There seem to have
been
a bit of a population of Mortimers around Chapel of Garioch, Oyne, Rayne,
Insch,
and down to Inverurie, so I suspect my Mortimers had been in that area for
quite
a while, although it is not a Scottish name.

I would appreciate any help anyone can give on making more connections on
this
family. Thank you.
